Instantly search across thousands of your local files without the cloud.
The Personal Search Engine allows you to build a lightning-fast, offline search index of your own files right inside your browser. If you have a massive folder of notes, code snippets, or CSVs and standard OS search is too slow, this tool is the perfect alternative. It reads all text-based files into your browser's memory, giving you sub-second, full-text search capabilities across your personal knowledge base—with zero privacy risks.
Because the search index is stored securely in your browser's temporary memory (RAM), it is completely wiped out when you close or refresh the tab. You will need to re-index the folder the next time.
Currently, it only supports plain-text formats like .txt, .md, .csv, .json, and source code files. PDFs and .docx files are binary formats and are not yet supported for instant indexing.
If you try to index millions of files, your browser might consume a lot of RAM. We recommend indexing specific project folders or document directories rather than your entire C: drive.
